*&^%$#
by far the best concert i've ever been to, coldplay, that little band my brother introduced to me when he came back from his working stint in Liverpool, their charismatic wave had yet to hit our shores, but once yellow got out to my ear drums......there was just no turning back.
sooner or later everybody thought chris martin was kermit on drugs, but i've always had an affinity to singers with unconventional voices, corgan, brett anderson etc.
It boils back to x-factor, you might not hit the right pitch, look the look or walk the walk, but if you can connect to millions.........there's more than meets the eye.
then they released a rush of blood, everyone thought they had gotten super soft, almost canto-popish. But i just thought it was perfection to harmonics, take everything secondary and push and repeat the harmony. the rest only warmed up with a cool video for the scientist and clocks (the song that swept america for some reason)
My personal favourite to date would be amsterdam. COz time is on your side is on your side................and truth is.....warning sign could not get out of my head for the longest of time.
sooner or later it was time for x&y.......first heard the single speed of sound.......i thought "what the hell is going on?" it was a decent track but nothing really pulled me emotionally the thing that coldplay was always good for
but when i got my hands on the album, fix you just blew me away......along with talk (thanks to some research i have to give kraftwerk some of the credit for a great song). And the rest of the songs just kept getting better and better, really loved it and still wondered how the speed of sound even fit in the album in the first place........but hell it was a damn cool video.......so you gotta love the sound.
two concerts had passed me by in singapore, they first opened for travis and came back with twisted logic......something i was all hyped up for.......but nobody was interested..........it sucks to rock alone...............plus money was always a factor.........watching anything in the island state almost feels like a rip off....they don't let you go crazy yet they make you pay so much for it.
then came viva..... i was so excited on hearing the release, i youtubed some of the first few songs......and to be honest i was left disappointed, only viva la vida seemed coldplayish and it stood out.......the rest was a different world.....violet hill was pretty ok when i heard it on the airwaves but i was still looking for a damn pull...............
that's when lost and lovers in japan saved the day. I wondered how i managed to miss youtubing it in the first place.....i only heard it when prospekts march was being talked about. it hit the spot......it revived the fanatisicm, it convinced me to splash for the concert, it was the best ever thing that has happened to my life to date, they are great performers, i couldn't even tell if anything went wrong or slightly off....coz it didn;t.
i am totally blown over and will contradict everything that points otherwise from what i'm about to say.
they are the best band ever, all their songs rock coz i'm a freakin fan.
