In Memorium

Coming home to Sunway on the federal,
noticed the studio apartment project next to carefour,
not more than a few months ago i recall a story of a couple planning to invest in that place claiming it was pretty reasonable and well connected to public transport, the komuter that is.

the couple was my mom's friends, they have 3 sons of whom the eldest i've known from church back in penang.

all of them are pretty much grown up and the retiring couple had dreams of opening a small kopitiam, like OLD KOPITIAM CAFE where they could spend the rest of their lives making small cakes and drinks to make do of time.

the husband, once succesful and healthy had been cursed with liver cancer and the complications that came with it.

I was only an aquaintance, i've probably met him twice in my life,

but that time was long enough to see the bright shining light in him, however weak his body was.

so back to events last week.....i had to attend his funeral.

his family, however prepared they were with his sickness, his final breath must have echoed a pain that will linger on.

in the church he looked presentable as ever in the casket as the ceremony went thru the usual prayers.

a strong gush of wind, kinda signalling the separation of spirit.

off to semenyih, a pretty far off place to lay rest, but a beautifuly crafted by nirvana.

the rain that hammered the procession cleared up instantly as the casket reached the burial grounds as if the man himself opened a big umbrella in the sky for his family and friends.

more songs, prayers, flowers and candles

ashes to ashes, dust to dust

he finally lays to rest, may his family find peace.
