what a forgettable year it has been,
everybody was stressed out, money was scarce
but wait a minute, there were those who got going when the toughness was getting it on
those like my pinot noir basil plant, what started out as an inch of leaf and plant is now a good 3 feet worth of hardy wild basil that stretches form the dark spots of my balcony to the ledge of warm sun.
plants are living things and as slow as they are, they still grow faster than us, faster in a good environment, and even when resources are scared they adapt and find new methods to exist. they are survivors and they will be around longer than any of us.
is this the jealousy that causes us to continually take more than what they offer us unconditionally?
or are they silently waiting for retribution, a day when their numbers are so limited, they then decide to take away the one thing that keeps us alive, oxygen.
that's human nature right at it's worse, we harm the ones that love us the most
